Lend a Hand to Mendacity

Guys I have a story to tell you… a good one. Well what makes a story touching… a tragedy…??. I have that in my story….

I reached at the casualty main door and screamed at the height of my voice ‘can anybody please help me?? Daactorrr… Nnnurse!! One junior doctor and two male nurses came rushing towards me and took charge of the half unconscious guy from my arms. One man came with a trolley bed and they lay them down on the bed and asked me what happened. He Fainted in front of my door and later said everything got blacked out I said to doctors. They lost no time and pasted some gel on his chest and taken his pulses with a Electrocardiogram (or ECG). The machine started blinking with bip bip sound, in few seconds the graph was out. The patient was still laying with deep breaths. Two junior doctors had a chit chat after seeing the graph and called out for a specialist.

I saw around me and it was quite a rush. Paitients with burns and hurts were there. So much of blood all around, strong sense of medicine and betadene or tincture. People were crying and some are screaming too. All medical staffs were busy. I always hate these casualties.

The senior doctor after verifying the graph asked me what happened exactly. I repeated the story in detail. He was coming out of his room and as he reached my door suddenly collapsed. I was afraid and taking help of a friend I took him inside my room and put some water on him and some time later he came to sense. When I asked what happened he said suddenly everything was black in front of him and he doesn’t know what happened. He asked the juniors to transfer him to ICU and asked me to fill the formalities.

I couldn’t control my curiosity and asked what has happened exactly. The doc requested me to seat and asked who am I; His relative or friend? If anybody from his family could attend him. His family was in Bombay and I said they can reach here early in the morning. I am his friend. Well he has a defect in his current generators of the heart. Out of 3 generators (pacemakers) one is not functioning. And until unless there is no problem there is nothing to worry. Once you face any attack then it needs to be changed and the cost will be around 2 to 3 Lks depending on the device you want to install. Are you ready?? He asked? I was quite astonished to hear the fact and said I call his parents as soon as possible. The Doc gave me a prescription to buy some medicines. He was replaced now to another bed and transferred to third floor to ICU.

How about a twist guys… I know twists always work … Well you might be thinking this is quite normal for a heart patient, nothing great in the story…wait wait wait this is not as simple as you are thinking coz I know what actually happened.

It was really shock for me to see the proceedings in the hospital. I came down after shifting him to ICU and collapsed my bottom on a bench outside the main building. I thought is it not just acting that I am doing to help the guy move out of Hyderabad??????? Or I was just a bakra in his whole plot? He knew he has a heart problem and the family is sensitive about it that is why he had chosen for a heart attack. I picked up my cell and called one number (supposed to be his sister’s)... trrring trring trring…..

Isn’t it interesting?? Well my job was really to make him admit to the hospital, but you could think was that possible then with the fact that he had been admitted to ICU?? My painful night just started from there.

Let’s go few days back….The story that follows may seem completely filmy to you, so did I felt when he narrated his story:

You can’t believe it PK my life is a Bollywood story. I am in love with a girl and she is the daughter of a Mumbai Underworld Don. When they came to know about our love the first thing they did was beaten up my two friends who helped us to being in love and hospitalized them. I was afraid but not ready to loose my love and finally one night they came to the apartment where I was putting with my friends. They were 4 people and beaten me until I lost my consciousness. They warned my friends to tell me that if I make any stupid mistake henceforth I will loose my life. It reached my parents and sister who was working for Times at a senior level. All my family and friends decided to keep me out of Mumbai and sent me to this horrible place where I have no friends and no joy. I am just creeping through my life here.

It was a hot summer day and I was completely tired doing my job at a non-ac computer lab as a lab- faculty and giving some lectures for crash courses. I ordered 4 pulkas with mutter paneer. This was the cheap hotel run by a Sardarji in Begampeth and this happens to be the most choosen place for all job seekers and newly employed in IT in that area. Suddenly the guy sitting in front of me asked me something. I noticed him carefully. He had ordered stuffed pulkas and Paneer Butter masala and some other stuff too with a plate of curd. I said sorry did you asked me something? You look so tired and exhausted, is everything OK? I said its fine; it’s just another tiring day. Why don’t you try some curd its good in summer he suggested. I don’t eat curd, I have lacto allergy I replied in a tone that he should understand that I am not interested to talk right now. That’s where we came to know each other. He was Praveen and was working in Times of India as a Graphic Designer. We became friends and he narrated his story one day and asked me to help going out of Hyderabad but without loosing his times job. The plan was he will be transferred to Mumbai on medical grounds and that needs to be serious like heart, and his sister and parents should have to agree too.

That’s not all… do u think a guy like me would buy his filmy story and help him doing all these and cheating with his parents….Neeeeeeeeehh….There is a woman always behind every successful man, all great stories… won’t u agree with me??

Sipra was really beautiful with a posture that tells that she is never going to bend in front of anybody and arms so wide to fight every odd like a lioness, Colored with the color of sky on a fool moon night. This dusky beauty was a charm in our college though she was doing b-tech and I was doing MBA. She blushed and smiled that created a dimple on her face like a whirlpool in the ocean when I told her that we use to go to the same telephone booth just to see her.

Praveen invited her for a dinner with us. I was surprised to see her in Hyderabad. He said as soon as he leaves Hyderabad I could take his apartment which was just next to Sipra’s (those days my landlord had given me notice to vacate and I was looking for a good house). I thought I will go out of the hotel and jump in happiness and thank god, but somehow I was in control.

Ok let’s come back to the main plot we left

After having something to eat drink and smoke back in the ICU the scene I couldn’t able to digest and my hairs still standout to remember the size of the injection that had been given to him; its more than a feet long and at-least should have 1 inch of radius; oh my god is he taking this for nothing?? Going back to ICU I saw the worst scenes I had never experienced. People with severe heart problems were there. The conditions of those people were hard to describe. I wish god I should not see those scenes again. I stayed there for the whole night and came out when I got a call from his sister. My job was over, I came out and shown her sister how to go to his room and do all the formalities. Way back to my room I was just seeing the screaming patients and their relatives.

An interesting story should have suspense too... isn’t it? You must be worried what happened to him after that? Go ahead….

I don’t know what happened after that. He never called me back; I tried to call him several times… no body replied… I called her sister too but nobody picked up. Was his story a real one; did his trick worked, and then what happened to his love? After several trials for several days I gave up. Till now I am in suspense too.

Well the story didn’t have one end only; there was a happier side too.

We had a nice dinner at Green Hill, Sipra told she like the bikes the most and someday would like to ride one… great thought. How about a long drive around Hussain Sagar now? She asked. It was 11 PM, month of Feb and a brand new Karizma…. Broooooooooom … Broooooooooom….and the story just begun….
